The New Dimension Of Chris Young

OAKLAND - No team in the American League scored more runs after the All-Star break last season than the Oakland A's. The A's used several platoons to maximize production. Oakland is hoping that formula is a winner again in 2013 and they have brought in a few new pieces to the puzzle. One of the most important of those new faces is CF Chris Young.

In 2012, Oakland A's manager Bob Melvin became very fond of platooning players at various positions last year, sometime because of necessity when dealing with injuries and sometimes in order to optimize matchups by using depth of his roster.
