Cubs hire Rick Renteria

The Chicago Cubs have named Rick Renteria as the team's next manager, agreeing with the former Padres bench coach on a three-year deal with a two-year club option. Renteria replaces Dale Sveum, who was fired at the end of the season.

With Rick Renteria still recovering in San Diego from hip replacement surgery, the Cubs announced the three-year deal with their 53rd manager with a early afternoon Press Release.
