| Chase Fontaine was a Rangers' draft and follow player from the 2005 draft, but Texas failed to sign him before the D&F deadline in late May. So Fontaine went back into the draft and the Braves drafted him in the second round (72nd overall) of the 2006 draft. He went to Danville and had a very solid debut, hitting .296 with 25 RBI and 4 home runs in 199 at bats. Fontaine is compared to another Chase - Utley, and the Braves believe he could develop into a similar offensive second baseman down the road. For now, Fontaine will go to Rome and play shortstop in 2007. |
