| Hissey was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Draft. The sweet-swinging left-handed center fielder came out of nowhere in the summer of 2007 to earn a scholarship offer from the University of Virginia. He grew a lot over the last year, enjoying a fine senior season while emerging as one of the premier high school position players in the nation. Playing in front of around 10 scouts per game, he hit .509 with an outstanding .692 on-base percentage and 26 stolen bases. Regarded as one of the top 200 prospects, 136 overall, entering the draft by Baseball America, Boston grabbed him with the last selection in the fourth round. He projects to hit for more power as he develops into his frame, and has drawn comparisons from scouts to Johnny Damon and Jacoby Ellsbury. |
