Rays Prospect Q & A: Jacob Faria

Faria showed excellent control in the GCL in 2011.

Jacob Faria was a tenth-round pick in last year's June Amateur Draft out of Gahr High School in Cerritos, California. We caught up with the 18-year-old a few weeks ago and asked him about his first spring training, his approach to pitching and his mechanics, what his goals were for the 2012 season and who he has been seeking advice from during camp. Inside is our interview.

There are much more highly-touted pitching prospects that came out of last year's draft, but Jacob Faria is an intriguing young arm. Although I was unable to see him pitch during spring training, I talked to one scout who said that he was touching 94 mph in one outing.
